Tribe ScribeINEVITABLE: The Indians’ pitching staff now boasts the worst ERA in the American League at 4.83. That’s second-worst in all of baseball behind Colorado’s 5.31.

HE’S HUMAN: Wednesday brought Vinnie Pestano’s first defeat of the season and his first since Sept. 28 of last season in Detroit, snapping a string of 53 straight appearances without a loss.

ALL-TIME TOTALS: The Indians’ all-time record against the Athletics dropped to 222-254 and their mark against the Mariners dropped to 205-162.

SINKING FAST: The Indians have failed to win 12 of their last 13 series.

DEJA VU: The Tribe’s sweeps at the hands of the A’s and Mariners were the first time they’d been swept on the road by those teams since April of 2003. Ironically, both of those sweeps occurred back to back as well.

WEEKEND WOES: The Indians are now a combined 12-28 on Saturdays and Sundays this season, an even 42-42 Monday through Friday.

TWO FOR JK: When Jason Kipnis drove in a pair of runs in Monday night’s loss in Seattle, it marked his first multi-RBI game since July 18. In between, his batting average dropped from .278 to .254.

DOWNHILL: The Indians scored nine runs in their first game in Seattle this season, then just a combined eight in their next five games in Seattle.

THE TREND CONTINUES: The Indians have either been shut out or scored only one run 23 times this season - once every 5.4 games.

LACK OF PATIENCE: In their three games in Oakland, Indians’ batters drew only two walks.

SWEPT AGAIN: The Indians have now been swept nine times this season.

SHUTOUT CENTRAL: Sunday marked the sixth time this season the Indians have been shut out - all since June 2. On the bright side, it was the first time they’d been shut out in 20 games after being stymied five times in their previous 49.

A FOE TO HIS OLD FRIENDS: Since the Indians traded him in 2002, Bartolo Colon has now faced the Tribe 10 times, posting a 6-3 record with a 3.28 ERA.

AUGUST AGONY: The Indians’ record in August now stands at 4-17. They’ve got a good chance to make this their worst month of action since going 7-21 in September of 2009.

ROAD WOES: The Indians have lost 18 of their last 19 road games and 21 of their last 24.

THE DIVIDING LINE: When the Indians allow more than three runs in a game this year, they’re 11-63. The last time they won a game in which their opponent scored more than three runs was their 10-6 triumph in Tampa on July 18.

A YEAR AGO: After 124 games in 2011, the Indians stood at 62-62, tied for second place in the AL Central, 5.5 games behind Detroit.
