Brian McPeekIn a game that set offensive football all the way back to the 2008 Cleveland Browns season the Browns squeaked out their first win of '09 by a score of 6-3 over Buffalo. That's the good news. The bad news is that the NFL doesn't use the system that Euro League soccer uses and that means both Buffalo and Cleveland will remain in the upper division for the foreseeable future. Folks, this one was ugly. Tyrone Hill ugly. Peeks hits on the "win", the Buckeyes victory over the Badgers, the MLB Playoffs, and the 5-0 Broncos in The Weekend Wrap.

For those tardy to this little dance, 64 Since '64 is The Cleveland Fan's latest bracket-style tournament, matching up the top Indians, Browns, and Cavs players of the last 45 years in hopes of honoring those who did the most to make Cleveland sports watchable during an era fraught with heartbreak. Brian McPeekIs there such a thing as a moral victory or an acceptable loss? Brian McPeek says no, and explains himeslf in talking about the Browns Sunday's 23-20 OT loss to the Bengals at Browns Stadium. Mike PiperAs is the custom, when the weather gets cool on the north coast the Lead Man heats up. Last week you would have sworn Lead Pipe mailed his selections in from the equator as he delivered four winners that were so clear cut you could have started heading to the window by halftime. His only defeat came courtesy of a San Diego State Hail Mary with no time left on the clock, to get inside the number. That's a 4-1 week, and another profitable start to the football season for our resident handicapper, who has been making TCF readers rich for the last three seasons.

This week, voting got underway in the massive and mildly controversial 64 Since '64 Tournament, pitting the best Browns, Indians, and Cavs players of the past 45 years against one another in head-to-head competition. As is fitting of a Cleveland sports bracket, though, the goal hasn't been so much to crown a champion as to harvest our dwindling nostalgia for the sake of much needed entertainment (a commodity the Indians and Browns are plum out of this year). Andrew Clayman and Jeff Ellis break down eight more first round matchups in this piece.
