Nets Have Won Five Straight Against Cavs

The Cavaliers look to run their winning streak to seven games tonight, but in order to do so, must do something they have been unable to do for 15 months.

Beat the New Jersey Nets.

The Nets have owned the Cavs as of late, taking five straight from them dating back to early last season. The Nets are also coming off of a 91-84 win against the Detroit Pistons last night, who had won eleven straight before that contest. The win snapped a four game losing streak for the Nets, who stand at 23-20 and have a one game lead over the Philadelphia 76ers in the Atlantic division.

The Nets beat the Cavaliers twice already this season.

Once on December 9th at The Q, a 109-100 win for the Nets that was highlighted by an amazing performance from Vince Carter. Vin-sanity dropped 38 points on the Cavs on 15-21 shooting, and completely took the game over. Carter added 11 rebounds, 6 assists, 4 steals, and 2 blocked shots for good measure. The Nets starters scored 98 of their 109 points, and they shot 56% as a team ... as the Cavs had no answer for them whatsoever defensively.

The second meeting was on December 27th in New Jersey, and was a 96-91 win for the Nets. Jefferson, Carter, and Kidd combined for 63 points, and Jefferson torched the Cavs for 28 points on 9-11 shooting from the field and 8-9 shooting for the line. The game was completely dominated by the Nets until a mad fourth quarter run by the Cavs that ended up coming just short. The Cavs shot the ball terribly to that point, and the bench combined for just 7 points on 3-17 shooting.

The Cavs hit the road after this evenings game for a matchup with the Heat in Miami tomorrow night. The team then returns home to host the Sixers on Saturday and the Bucks Monday.
