Lebron James has gone to the Miami Heat. I know we don't like to hear that fact, but the truth is that he is gone. Lebron wanted to go somewhere where he felt that he could achieve his dream of winning an NBA title, and that place wasn't Cleveland. At the same time, how big of a gamble is James taking here.

This isn't like online US poker sites where all that is at stake is your current money. He is going to get paid for sure, but what happens if he fails in Miami? What happens at the end of the contract, or even 3 to 4 years if he doesn't perform? Who will take a chance with him at that point? He damn sure cannot come back to Cleveland. James is playing a big game of Mac poker with his career. He is gambling that he will win in Miami and risking future money by leaving.

Let's say he stayed in Cleveland and only won one title through his career there. Yes, many would consider that as underdeveloped talent, but James would have been THE MAN for Cleveland for all-time. "He turned down winning right now to win for us" would have been the chant. Now his popularity in Cleveland is about as low as PokerRoom's on online poker site rankings lists. (PokerRoom was absorbed by another site and no longer exists.) If he fails in Miami, who else will take him, or pay him what he will demand?

Then again, this will all become a moot point should he win in Miami. The supporters and Cleveland haters will go "I told you so", while fans will claim he bought a title. Sadly, this is going to turn out badly for James in one aspect or another regardless of what happens. Only time will tell whether his career gamble will pay off.
