Indians Indians Archive The B-List: 4/24

The B-ListThe challenge of a daily column is that sometimes the game has no distinctive narrative.  Cleveland starter Zach McAllister pitched pretty well … but not VERY well.  The Indians scored a couple of run … but not very INTERESTING runs.  The White Sox got one hit of note.  Their pitching was pretty good.  Jason Kipnis stole two bases.  There just isn’t a lot to say.  So all of the creativity in today’s B-List is contained in its format.  Enjoy the syllabic spree!

When in doubt, fall back on haiku.

1) One of the pitchers ever to start for the Cleveland Indians

Zach McAllister
Nearly finished six innings
Gave up three earned runs

First run was Smallball
Walk, stolen base, clean single
These things will happen

Too many walks, though
No walks in his first two games
Five (oy!) in this game

Still had chance to win
But one bad pitch to Rios
Yields two-out homer

Still cannot tell you
What Zach McAllister does
Five walks is bad, though

2) One Man Gang

Slow start by Kipnis
Jason had a clutch single
Two-out RBI

Fearsome baserunning
Two steals, including third base
Now has four this year

Still not hitting well
But RBI off lefty
Good sign for future

Scoring position
Cleveland’s bane thus far this year
Only hit by Kipnis

3) Semi-clutch

Mark Reynolds struck out
Mark Reynolds hit no home runs
Still drove in a run

4) Semi-fungal

Double play grounder
Two whiffs in four trips to plate
Ryan Raburn: feh

5) Terror from the portside

Rich Hill faced two guys
Each of them struck out swinging
Way to go, Rich Hill!

And Nick Hagadone
Struck out Gillaspie swinging
Fail to no avail

6) Welcome back!

Tofu Lou Marson
Just back from neck injury
No hits for Marson

Two guys stole second
We thought Lou was better guy
May be Santana

7) Credit Where Credit is Due Dept.

Jose Quintana
Should not be better than Sale
We can’t hit this guy

Pitched better last time
Still pitched well enough to win
Sub-three ERA

Left-handed pitching
No longer bane of Indians
Unless it’s this guy

White Sox closer Reed
Six saves already this year
Twice what Perez has

Six saves in eight wins
White Sox win only close games
Still a bad offense

8) Managerial Result-Noters

Still think Stubbs better
Right-hander facing lefties
Should lead off, I think

Brantley got two hits
Stubbs reached base but one time
Francona smarter

9) Ho Hum Dept.

Joe Smiff, three pitches
Two ground balls, two ground ball outs
Zero ERA
