Tony Wolters, 2B-CAR: 3-4, R.

Wolters was selected in the 3rd round of the 2010 draft out of Rancho Buena Vista High school. He broke a bone in his arm in spring training in 2011, and was held out of action until the short season New York-Penn League started up last June. He had a solid season with the Scrappers, hitting .292/.385/.363 with a HR, 20 RBI, 19 SB and a league-leading 50 runs scored. Wolters completely skipped the low-A Midwest League, as the Indians assigned him straight to the high-A Carolina League with the Mudcats this year. It's an aggressive assignment for the 20-year old middle infielder, and he struggled at the outset of the 2012 season. At the end of April, Wolters was hitting just .130/.231/.159 with two doubles and no other XBH. Since April though, he's managed to  raise his OPS almost 300 points, and is hitting .247/.308/.346 with a HR, 4 triples and 17 doubles in 73 games on the season. He's done a nice job adjusting to the league, and the lefthanded hitter is actually handling southpaw pitching pretty well; he's got a .271/.364/.313 line against lefties. Wolters is a real grinder, a kid that always gives 110% on every play and really enjoys playing the game. He's a lot of fun to watch on the field, and his enthusiasm is contagious as he's a leader in the clubhouse. He's always going to get the most out of his tools, and is a guy with 80-grade #want. He's an above-average fielder at both SS and 2B, but the presence of uber-prospect Francisco Lindor and fellow Mudcat Ronny Rodriguez will likely keep him at 2B long-term in the Indians org. He can be a valuable player at 2B, as there's really nothing between him and Jason Kipnis at AA or AAA. If he can continue to consistently produce the way he has since April, he could be a fast-mover in the organization.

Chris Seddon, SP-COL: W (8-5), 6 IP, 3 ER, 6 H, 6 K, BB. The 28-year old lefty has been solid for the Clippers this year, but is hardly a prospect at this stage of his career. On the season, he's 8-5 with a 3.66 ERA, striking out 85 and walking 22 in 98 1/3 IP.

Frank Herrmann, RP-COL: IP, 2 K. The Harvard-educated Frank the Tank has now struck out 42 and walked just 9 in 37 IP out of the bullpen for Columbus this season.

Russ Canzler, LF-COL: 2-4, 2 2B, 3 RBI, BB, 2 R. Canzler finished June with a .299/.372/.588 line with 7 HR and 28 RBI. He's not showing any signs of slowing down early on here in July, as he's 3-8 with a pair of doubles in three games this month.

Matt LaPorta, 1B-COL: 3-6, 2B, 2 RBI, 2 R. LaPorta is 6 for his last 14 with a HR and 3 doubles.

Vinnie Rottino, DH-COL: 2-3, 2B, 2 RBI, 3 BB, 2 R. Since coming over from the Mets organization, Rottino is 4-11 (.364) with a double, 3 RBI and 5 walks. I'm getting to the point where I'm older than pretty much everyone in the Indians minor league system, but Rottino is actually 15 months older than I am. I can honestly say I'd never heard of him until the Indians picked him up off waivers.

Tyler Sturdevant, RP-AKR: 2 IP, H, 2 K. Another solid outing for Sturdevant, who's now worked 7 AA innings, allowing 2 ER on 6 hits with 7 K and 1 BB this year.

Thomas Neal, RF-AKR: 3-4, 2B, RBI, BB, 2 R, SB. Neal stays hot, as the Indians minor league POW and Eastern League POW is hitting .487/.574/.897 with 3 HR, 7 doubles, 7 walks and 11 RBI in his last 10 games.

Jeremie Tice, DH-AKR: 2-4, 2 RBI, R, K. Tice has now played in 10 games for the Aeros since being called up on June 22. He's hitting a robust .350/.413/.525 with a HR, 4 doubles and 11 RBI in those 10 games.

Juan Diaz, SS-AKR: 2-4, 3B, 4 RBI, R, 2 K. Diaz has been picking things up of late, going for a .308/.372/.538 line with a HR and 8 RBI in his last 10 games. Overall, he's hitting .247/.293/.678 with 6/29 in 63 games for the Aeros this year.

Cole Cook, RP-CAR: 2 IP, 3 H, K. After a rough start in the Carolina League when he gave up 5 ER in 2 1/3 IP, Cook has settled down to pitch effectively out of the bullpen. In his three relief outings, he's thrown 5 innings, allowing 1 run on 4 hits, striking out 4 and walking just one.

Ronny Rodriguez, SS-CAR: 3-4, 3 1B. Both of the Mudcat middle infielders picked up three hits yesterday, as each Wolters and Rodriguez went 3-4. Rodriguez has raised his season line to .283/.316/.448, which is especially impressive when you consider that after April he was hitting just .203/.241/.304.

Gio Urshela, 3B-CAR: 2-4, HR (6), 3 RBI, R. Urshela continues to sizzle at the plate, hitting .342/.357/.737 with 4 HR and 12 RBI in his last 10 games for the Mudcats. He's recorded a hit in 8 of his last 9 games, and has hit 5 of his 6 HR on the season in the past month's worth of games.

Joseph Colon, SP-LCC: W (7-8), 5 IP, 5 H, 6 K, 3 BB. Solid start for Colon, who lowered his season ERA to 3.01 for the Captains. He's struck out 64 and walked 29 in 98 2/3 IP this season.

Jose Ramirez, 2B-LCC: 3-4, 2B, RBI, BB, R. Ramirez has played 12 games for the Captains since being called up near the end of June. He's hitting a robust .354/.404/.438 with 4 doubles, 3 SB and 9 runs scored.

Jordan Smith, RF-LCC: 2-4, R, K. Smith has been on fire lately, hitting .395/.439/.474 in his last 10 games to push his overall line to a solid .300/.351/.435 in 65 games for the Captains this year.

Jerrud Sabourin, 1B-LCC: 2-5, 2B, RBI, R, K. Sabourin was part of a 16-hit assult the Captains laid on the West Michigan pitching staff yesterday. He's hitting .295/.360/.378 on the season with 2 HR and 38 RBI.

Alex Monsalve, C-LCC: 2-5, 3B, RBI, R. A catcher with a triple? You'd better believe that's making ATF. Monsalve actually hit three triples last year, so he's slowed down a bit in 2012. He does have 7 HR on the season in 283 AB, already more than the 5 he hit in 458 AB for the Captains last year.

Bryson Myles, CF-LCC: 2-5, RBI, K, CS.  Myles is just 11-19 in stolen base attempts this season after swiping 20 bags in 27 attempts for the Scrappers last year.

Jake Sisco, SP-MVS: 5 IP, ER, 5 H, 2 BB. No strikeouts for Sisco, but 5 solid innings nonetheless. He now has a 3.32 ERA in 19 IP for the Scrappers, but more walks (11) than strikeouts (9).

Joe Wendle, 3B-MVS: 2-4, 2B. Another day, another two hits for Wendle. He's recorded 4 multi-hit games in his last 6 contests, and is hitting .372/.429/.512 for the Scrappers in 12 games this year.
