Interview: Paul "The Punisher" Williams

Paul "The Punisher" Williams is one of the top fighters in the 147 pound division. He is also in the discussion when it comes to top ten pound for pound fighters in the world today. His career record is currently 34-1 with 25 of those wins coming by knockout, and his most notable win was over Antonio Margarito back in July of 2007. Now that Margarito is on top of the world with his victory over Miguel Cotto, will he want a rematch with Paul Williams? Margarito Upsets Cotto In Instant Classic

WHAT A FIGHT! Expectations were very high for last night's scrap between the two best fighters in boxing's most competitive weight class, and Antonio Margarito and Miguel Cotto managed to exceed those expectations with an epic battle for the ages at the MGM Grand in Vegas. And at the end of the night, it was the challenger and 2-1 underdog Margarito who beat the previously unbeaten Cotto into submission in the 11th round. My cuz recaps last nights instant classic.

Preview: Cotto/Margarito

It just doesn't get much bigger than this one. Miguel Cotto verus Antonio Margarito. The two top welterweights in the world, and two of boxings top shelf pound for pound fighters. Both have energetic, frenetic, crowd pleasing styles ... and this one has Fight of the Year written all over it. My cousin is all jacked up for this one, and in his latest column, previews Saturday nights mega-fight for us here at The Cleveland Fan.

Round Two With The Baby Bull

The last time my cuz had the chance to speak to Juan "Baby Bull" Diaz was back in January of this year. At that time, he was 33-0 and Lightweight Champion of the World. On March 8, 2008, Diaz would suffer the first loss of his career to Nate Campbell. It was a tough fight but Campbell was clearly the better fighter that night. September 6th, Juan Diaz will look to regain his winning ways when he steps in with another very tough opponent in Michael Katsidis. And our resident fight doctor had another chance to talk with him this week.

A New Player In The MMA Game

Tonight is a big night for mixed martial arts fans. Affliction, the company that earned its fame by fighters wearing their t-shirts (most notably in the UFC) will be making its debut as a mma organization in Anaheim, California. And they are now backed by Donald Trump. They have a big pay per view card. And to combat them, the UFC is putting a superb free card on Spike, headlined by top pound for pound fighter Anderson Silva. The Spoon Man previews both cards for us.
