The Fight Doctor was ringside last night for The War by the Shore in Geneva, and was witness to a great card of fights that included a big upset in the headliner. And Brian "The Predator" Rogers enjoyed a little TCF kharma, parlaying his interview on our front page to an impressive win before a large cheering section. My cousin Scott recaps the night of local fighting action.

Last night in Geneva, Ohio the North American Allied Fight Series hosted yet another great show full of top local mixed martial arts talent. Greg Kalikas and Jake Digman always put on a great card and the one yesterday might have been the best so far. The Cove was packed full of fight fans and they sure got thier money's worth.

The main event of the night saw Madison's John Hedges aka the Showstopper take on Matt Lust in a heavyweight battle. Hedges always plays to the crowd and this time was no different as he was led to the ring by the Madison High School football team.

Lust took the fight on short notice and only had two week to get ready for Hedges. In the first round it looked as if that was going to be the difference in the match. Hedges recovered from a very nice slam by Lust to get top position and land a good number of punches for more than half of the round. About a minute into the second round, Hedges looked to be out of gas and Lust took advantage. He dominated the rest of the way and won a unanimous decision.

The co-main event of the night was a rematch between Paul "Str8 Outta" Compton and John "Mongoose" Myers. Compton won the first match and looked to get another win under his belt. The crowd loved every minute of this one as Compton also fights out of Madison, Ohio. Compton got the win via unanimous decision and he was never in any trouble in this battle. Mongoose appeared out of sorts a bit and didn't press the action as much as normal. This fight was slow moving until the second and third round and that's when Compton started to impose his will and take over the fight. Compton improved to 9-2 with the victory.

Brian "The Predator" Rogers seemed to have the biggest cheering section as they went crazy when he made his way into the cage. He sure didn't let anyone down tonight. He was dominant and looked very sharp in a 2nd round TKO victory over Frank Dachtler. Rogers was able to land a lot of clean shots and his standup defense as well as his takedown defense kept him out of trouble the entire match. He landed some bombs that made the referee step in to stop the fight. Rogers improved to 4-1 and got the win he wanted after suffereing his first defeat last time out.

Another featured fight had the 2006 NAAFS Light Heavyweight Champion Chuck Ellison step in with Mason Woodruff. I came away very impressed with Ellison and this kid has a very bright future ahead of him. Woodruff came out and looked very sharp. He was able to get Ellison down and was pounding away on Ellison. From the advice of Terry Blackwell in his corner, Ellison worked his way out of trouble to secure a submission. It was simply awesome and showcased his all around skills. Ellison won by 1st round submission via an armbar that was picture perfect.
