The city of Cleveland played host to another super night of live mixed martial arts action, as local fight fans filled the Masonic Auditorium for "Caged Fury 3".  As expected, the main event was the highlight of the evening as UFC vet Jason "Dynamite" Dent took on Torrance "The Tyrant" Taylor for the lightweight NAAFS title.  My cousin was cageside and recaps the event for us, including what he thought was a questionable decision in the headliner. Another NAAFS show, another satisfied fight fan. What a great evening of fights in Cleveland. The stacked card that took place at the Masonic Auditorium didn't disappoint one bit.

The highlight of the evening was clearly the main event. UFC veteran and local fighter Jason Dent stepped in with Torrance Taylor. The fight was for the Lightweight title and both guys put everything they had into this one.

It was a true back and forth battle that ended in what few people saw a bad decision. Taylor got the split decision win and now holds the belt.

My score card had Dent winning three rounds to two. He seemed to get the better of many of the exchanges and did much better work on the ground. Taylor did land some very solid shots but was huffing and puffing and kept spitting out his mouthpiece.

Both fighters impressed me. Dent took some big punches from the heavy handed Taylor and just kept coming.  Torrance on the other hand looked gassed after two rounds but sucked it up and continued to fight. The fans are already calling for a rematch and I'd like to see it again myself. It was that good.

A few other fighters really caught my eye last night as well.

Stepe Miocic. Wow. I have had the pleasure of seeing his last two fights and this dude is legit. He won his amateur fight with a quick 1st round KO over Matt Lust. He looks ready to make some noise in this sport for a long, long time. He fights out of team Strong Style so I know he's training with the best guys around. Remember his name because he will be a force to be reckoned with for years to come.

"Cujo" Joe McCall got another victory in a lopsided win over Dominic Quarazzo. McCall worked a solid ground and pound and the fight was stopped in the 2nd due to a nasty lump on the side of Quarazzo's cheek. It looked as if something was broken.

Another guy that impressed me did it in a loss.

Sonny Marchette's wrestling is top of the food chain. He was dominating Donny Walker for a round and a half. He was landing good solid shots with a wicked jab. His takedowns look unstoppable. Walker , with much more experience in the mma world caught him however. The fight ended in second round when Walker ended it with a triangle choke. Both fighters looked solid and I look to see more of both of them in the near future.

Overall, it was a great night of fights. There were a few stars of the sport that fought in Cleveland and I was glad to have seen them all in person. I'm sure the next event will be just as good and I can't wait for it.
