Paul Williams is climbing the pound for pound rankings and he is the guy nobody wants to fight. Carlos Quintana has the tough task of facing one of the most dangerous fighters in the world.
Paul "The Punisher" Williams is currently 33-0 with 24 knockouts. He is coming off a very impressive win over another 147 pound star in Antonio Margarito. The two things that easily set Williams apart from others are his size and activity.
Williams is 6 foot 1 and very lanky. He will always have the height and reach advantage. His pace is non-stop. Every fight he seems to throw about 200 punches per round. Not too many fighters are able to duplicate that output.
Carlos Quintana holds a record of 24-1 with 18 knockouts. The only loss was to Miguel Cotto back in December of 2006. He suffered a TKO loss in the fifth round. Quintana has been in with very tough guys and is by no means a punching bag for Williams.
Paul Williams is a one of a kind fighter. I expect his pace to be as frantic as ever, throwing punches from all angles with both hands. Quintana will be a game opponent but the cream will rise to the top. I see Williams dominating from start to finish with a mid to late round KO.
The undercard fight will feature one of the younger fighters that people expect to be champion one day. Andre Berto will take on Michel Trabant in a welterweight showdown.
Berto brings in an impressive 20-0 record with 17 knockouts. Trabant on the other hand is sitting at 43-2-1.
Andre Berto is the total package that just needs a little fine tuning. Trabant will be another step up in class for the 24 year old Berto. Trabant has never been knocked out in his career and Berto will try to be the first guy to do it.
If Berto gets in a groove early, he just might get that knock out. He has great speed, excellent power, and likes to go to the body. His conditioning is phenomenal and is always ready to go the distance. Trabant will look to derail the Berto express towards a title, I just see it happening. Andre Berto will keep his perfect record intact in this one.
Two good fights featuring two great fighters. Both Andre Berto and Paul Williams will be around for a long time. They are easily two of the most entertaining guys to watch and two of the most talented.
If you want exciting action and lots of punches being throw, this double header on HBO is something you don't want to miss. I know I won't.
