Man, I could not be any prouder of my cousin. On top of giving us wall to wall coverage of the boxing and mma worlds here at The Cleveland Fan, Scott recently started his own clothing company, Pound 4 Pound Apparel. And he's signed four really good young fighters to his label, including Ronald Hearns (21-0, 17 KO's), son of Tommy "The Hitman" Hearns, and headliner of a Showtime boxing card tonight. In his latest, my cuz talks about Ronald Hearns and the fight tonight ... and I have also included the press release announcing his signing with Pound 4 Pound.

When boxing fans hear the last name Hearns, they immediately think of Thomas "The Hitman". A former six division champion, and one of the best known fighters of all time that just happened to also be a part of some of the most memorable fights in history. Thomas's son Ronald, also a world class fighter, is looking to get out of his father's shadow and make his own history.

Born and raised in Michigan, boxing was in his blood. However, Ronald's career got off to a late start because that's how his father wanted it. Ronald is now making up for lost time and proving that he one day will be a champion.

Ronald currently holds a perfect record of 21-0 with 17 knockout victories. His next fight takes place in Miami, Oklahoma on March 28th, and will be featured on Showtime World Championship Boxing. Harry Joe Yorgey, also undefeated, will be the next hurdle for the motivated Hearns.

When your father is an icon in the sport, there is no doubt it will be tough to get out of his shadow and make his own mark on "the sweet science." Ronald Hearns has all the tools in the world to do just that. The former guard on American University's basketball team is a truly superior athlete. Getting a late start in one of the most grueling sports in the world is one thing, but to be perfect in 21 fights is another.

Hearns has very solid hand speed and excellent footwork. The attribute that makes him the most dangerous is his ring smarts. "The Chosen One" is a very cerebral fighter and uses that to know what his opponent is thinking before it happens. The frustration sets in and Hearns attacks and goes for the kill. The mental aspect of the fight game is what will separate Ronald on his path to the title in the 154 pound weight division.

Ronald Hearns has fought at a few different weight classes, but thinks his home is at 154. Hearns is a very disciplined 30, which means getting to the weight shouldn't be a concern. Being 6 foot 3 inches, Hearns will normally be bigger than his opponent. Having a great reach and speed is a great combination to have, and Hearns makes it work to perfection.

Ronald Hearns, a true family man, knows what it takes to be the best. He is more focused than ever, and looks for all of his hard work to pay off on March 28th.

The talent of Hearns is catching the eye of many observers in the world of boxing, and it's not because of who his father is.
