Tonight in Montreal the Ultimate Fighting Championship has a great lineup of fights. The main event has the mma world buzzing but it just might be the undercard that steals the show.

Let’s take a look at the main fights:

Main event for the welterweight title. Georges St. Pierre vs Josh Koscheck

A rematch between two guys who dislike each other very much. GSP dominated Koscheck three years ago in a non title fight. Koscheck, a very successful college wrestler, was picked apart in every aspect when they met last time including the takedowns. Since then, both fighters have improved in every facet of the fight game. GSP has looked unbeatable since regaining his title. Koscheck’s biggest improvement has been his striking and that will be what wins him the fight if he is going to pull off the upset this evening.

If Koscheck can turn this into a brawl, he might be able to win. GSP is too smart and too disciplined for that to happen I believe. Although Koscheck is a very good all around fighter, I don’t think there is another fighter in GSP’s class. I fully expect St. Pierre to keep his belt in a tough hard fought 25 minute decision.

Thiago Alves vs John Howard

This fight hasn’t been talked about too much but this is the one I have my eye on. If you like fast paced action, you’ll want to tune into this one also. Alves is finally healthy and had no issue making weight. Howard is looking to climb the ladder at 170 and Alves is in his way. Two fighters with a lot to prove always leads to fireworks.

Stefan Struve vs Seam McCorkle

Two of the tallest guys ever to enter the octagon. Struve is 6 foot 11 and McCorkle is 6 foot 7. Two huge heavyweights that want to be considering in the upper echelon of the division. I expect an all out brawl with little defense in this one. A first round KO is in order here. Don’t blink here as somebody is going to sleep and fast.

Mark Bocek vs Dustin Hazelett

Another fight at 170 pounds. This will be the most technical fight on the card. Two great ground fighters with a ton of heart. This is my selection for fight of the night. I look for a lot of transitions and submission attempts.

Full fight card:

Champ Georges St-Pierre vs. Josh Koscheck (for welterweight title)

Sean McCorkle vs. Stefan Struve

Jim Miller vs. Charles Oliveira

Mac Danzig vs. Joe Stevenson

Thiago Alves vs. John Howard

Mark Bocek vs. Dustin Hazelett

Joe Doerksen vs. Dan Miller

Sean Pierson vs. Matthew Riddle

Jesse Bongfeldt vs. Rafael Natal

Ricardo Almeida vs. T.J. Grant

Pat Audinwood vs. John Makdessi

The last pay per view of 2010 and it should be a great one. The event takes place in GSP’s backyard and they will be rowdy in support of their champion. Not only will they see a great main event, but the UFC has put together an awesome all around fight card to finish up what has been a solid year in the world of mixed martial arts.
