UFC 130 went down last night in Las Vegas and it left a pretty bad taste in my mouth. The card was supposed to have a lightweight title fight but that was scrapped because both Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard were injured. The main event and co-main event were crap last night in my opinion.

Let’s start with the co-main event. Frank Mir versus Roy “Big Country” Nelson. Roy Nelson is a fat slob that should be embarrassed.

He was fatter than ever and was gassed half way thru the second round. Some fans enjoy him because he isn’t ripped up and probably never misses a meal in his life. It never really bothered me that much until last night when it was obvious Nelson was more interested in being a side show that a legit mma fighter.

Frank Mir dominated Nelson and won a very easy decision. I don’t want to ever see Roy Nelson in the UFC again.

The main event has no business being called that. Quinton “Rampage” Jackson dominated Matt Hamill and got the unanimous decision victory. The fight was pretty lackluster and Matt Hamill didn’t deserve this fight. Jackson is a former title holder and has been in with the best of the best throughout his career. Hamill is a nice story but is nowhere near the level of Rampage, and it showed last night as he was never in the fight.

The two main fights were a slap in the face to the fans. I have been let down by cards in the past but last night actually made me angry and embarrassed to call myself a die hard UFC fan. A pay per view event every month is starting to water down the UFC and their product. I know the events will continue to be that often but they should change it. The next pay per view event is just two weeks away for crying out loud.

The fight of the night in my opinion was the Miguel Torres versus Demetrious Johnson scrap. Another joke was the UFC not giving these two fighters the fight of the night bonus checks.

It was easily the most entertaining, back and forth fight on the card. Johnson earned a hard fought unanimous decision over Torres, who is a former champ at 135 pounds. He won because of his superior wrestling and more consistent striking. Johnson continue to be considered a big underdog but “Mighty Mouse” is a legit contender and rightfully so.

What a letdown of a card. The UFC has to take a long look in the mirror. This is mainly wishful thinking on my part and I know it’ll never happen, but every other month for a pay per view card is just about right. The UFC is greedy as hell and does a great at just about everything. The product is getting a little watered down however. We have recently seen too many fighters competing in the UFC that probably don’t belong among the elite in the sport, and that is what the UFC is supposed to be.
