The Oscars are this Sunday night.  I love movies.  I'm not a big awards show guy, but this is one I'll tune in for.

And per usual, heading into the Oscars, I have yet to see many of the films up for picture of the year.  I saw 'Crash", and while I liked it a little better than DJK, I tend to agree with most of his review.

In the month that follows the Oscars, I make it a point to see each of the other nominated flicks.

As I'm sure you've all noticed, film reviews have been a part of this website from day one.  I see it as a nice little sporadic change of pace from the daily sports coverage we offer here.  Making that decision a no brainer for me was having two guys as talented as Mitch Cyrus and DJK willing to come on board from day one.  If you have yet to read any of the movie reviews these two have done ... start now and thank me later.  They are as good as anything you will read in any publication.  Here are their archives:

With the website going live on February 1 of this year, and the Oscars looming a month later, it made sense to dispatch these two to review the candidates for Best Picture of the Year, which they did an amazing job doing.

But before we get to those, let's quickly take a look at the last ten winners:

2005: Million Dollar Baby
2004: Lord of the Rings: Return of the King
2003: Chicago
2002: A Beautiful Mind
2001: Gladiator
2000: American Beauty
1999: Shakespeare In Love
1998: Titanic
1997: The English Patient
1996: Braveheart

And with that, here are the collected reviews of each of the five candidates for 2006 Best Motion Picture of the Year:

Movie Review: Munich - by Mitch Cyrus

Movie Review: Good Night and Good Luck - by Mitch Cyrus

Movie Review: Crash - by DJK

Movie Review: Capote - by DJK
