TheClevelandFan is excited to announce the addition full time coverage of the Mid-American Conference football and men’s basketball this year. Providing that coverage is Mike “Spin” Spinelli, long time TCF forum monger and MAC apologist.
A little about myself, I am a full time student at the University of Akron, graduating in August with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and a Minor Degree in Emergency Management. I am currently a full time paramedic for a private ambulance service, and a part time firefighter with the city of Wadsworth. I have four kids, two grandkids, and one really stupid dog. I’ve been married 25 years; our first date was a University of Akron football game at the Rubber Bowl. They lost. I have a son attending Baldwin Wallace next year, where he will be their heavyweight wrestler. I played football for Chippewa (Doylestown) High School, and basketball and soccer in a church league. Don’t laugh, some of those church league games were rougher than the football games in the WCAL…
I have a lot of exciting plans for this column. I’ll be previewing each team before the season, and the games. Televised games will be covered more closely. And there will be a slant on the local teams, Akron and Kent State, as that is where more of our readers have attended, or can go to a game. I will be covering the MAC football players drafted and signed by NFL teams, and after training camp will review MAC alumni in the NFL. I have a review of the Akron Zips Spring Game in the works. The first feature article will be about the changing coaching climate in the MAC. And I’ll keep you up to date on the latest news and rumors.
I want to hear from you, the MAC fan, and the college sports fan. I always take feedback seriously, and if there’s a school or a story you want covered, let me know.
