Ryan AroneyCleveland State, coming of a 66-47 drubbing of Marist on Saturday, will take on 13th ranked Syracuse at the Carrier Dome tonight at 7 p.m. on STO. The Vikings offense has been hot and cold all season and it was hot over the weekend after a week-long layoff for final exams. CSU (6-4) will need to continue the momentum as they look to solve Jim Boeheim's notoriously strong 2-3 zone defense. Ryan Aroney previews the contest for us and looks back at CSU's last couple games.

As good as last year's senior-laiden Butler team was, at one point ranked among the top ten teams in America, that group could not beat Cleveland State in Wolstein Arena, losing 56-52. With four of five starters and virtually all of Coach Stevens' long range firepower gone this season, Butler showed last night that the fall off will not be severe, as they gutted their way to a last second win over CSU at The Wolstein Center. Jay Pearlman recaps the tough loss for the Vikings.

The CSU Vikings came back home last night for their conference home opener, taking on Homer Drew's always tough Valparaiso Crusaders, a consistently solid mid major that is a recent addition to the improving Horizon Conference. CSU never trailed, rolling to a 66-42 blowout win at the Wolstein behind 29 points from Conference Player of the Year favorite J'Nathan Bullock. Jay Pearlman recaps the win.

Ryan AroneyCleveland State returns home this week for two early-season conference games against Valparaiso and Butler. After starting the season 1-2, the Vikings won the CBE Classic-Miami Regional last week thanks to victories over Saint Leo, Toledo and Florida International. After being soundly beaten by Washington and then losing an almost identical game at home to Kansas State, the Cleveland Stae Vikings went south to Miami, FL to play in the College Basketball Experience Tournament. The Vikes defeated Division II St. Leo 72-62, won 77-56 over first year Coach Gene Cross' rebuilding Toledo Rockets of the MAC, and held off the Sun Belt's FIU Panthers. Jay Pearlman talks about the Vikings three wins in Miami in his latest.
