Talk about running the gamut of emotions as a sports fan. The weekend got off to a glorious start, as the Buckeyes took Rich Rodriguez and the Wolverines out behind the woodshed on Saturday afternoon, notching the most lopsided win the rivalry had seen in forty years. Then, on Sunday, improbably, the Cleveland Browns hit a new low, losing 16-6 at home to the Texans. Peeks has some pointed words for Rich Rodriguez and Phil Savage, and he lays them on our readers in The Weekend Wrap.

Wear It

42-7 is just about right.

Ohio State blitzed the Michigan Wolverines with 28 unanswered second half points to put the worst season in UM history out of its misery Saturday in Columbus.

The Wolverines might have needed a refrigerated trailer to haul all their misery and rotted corpses back to Ann Arbor when it was all said and done. That is one sad, bad football team that Rich Rodriguez threw out on their field this fall.

The Buckeye defense dominated the day and OSU got some big plays from Terrelle Pryor, Beanie Wells (15/134 TD), Brian Hartline (2/71 2TDs), Brian Robiskie (2/54 TD) and ( Ta Da!!) Todd Boeckman to turn a 14-7 halftime score into a laugher.

Boeckman replaced Pryor on Senior Day and immediately hit Hartline with a perfectly thrown 18 yard TD pass that put the game away two minutes into the 4th quarter. It was a nice way to see the deposed senior captain leave the field.

When it was all said and done, Michigan left the field having earned their 9th loss this season. That's a new record for Coach Rodriguez breaking the record for losses in a season that was set just one week ago by....Rich Rodriguez.  There's more bad news on the horizon for big Dick given a number of his players are currently considering transferring and leaving his sinking ship. Rodriguez has proven to be able to get talented players into his system in the past. The character of those players often leaves a lot to be desired. Not sure the Pacman Jones and Chris Henry types are going to fly in Ann Arbor. Not to mention the fact that it's going to take time for whatever talent Rodriguez does recruit to get acclimated to the college game much less proficient in his system.

Could be a couple years before Dick's efforts bear fruit and I'm not sure he has that much time to work with or will be given much more rope to hang himself. Setting a loss record isn't exactly how you repay a university that watched you go through a messy divorce with your previous employer and then had to kick in a million dollars or more to help you gain your independence.

The man is an unlikable snake oil salesman. Here's hoping that karma continues to keep biting large chunks off his ass and that it all continues to happen while he's wearing a maize and blue track suit.

As for the Buckeyes, there will be no Rose Bowl this season. Penn State saw to that by annihilating Michigan State late Saturday afternoon to earn that honor. But a 5th straight victory over UM, a share of the Big10 title and a 10-2 record, all while indoctrinating their prized QB recruit, adds up to another very good season brought to you by Jim Tressel.

The Buckeyes will likely end up in a BCS bowl, most likely back in the desert of Arizona. Here's hoping for an OSU-Alabama or OSU-Texas/Oklahoma match up that might offer them a chance at redemption against a powerful bowl opponent.

Dear Phil:

I loved your witty response to an e-mailer last week. Classic stuff.  I loved it so much that I'd like to offer it right back at you with sincerity: %&@#  you.

Screw you and your first ever pick as Browns GM, Braylon Edwards. It's terrific to see him out there dropping everything but his rotten attitude. We truly appreciate you spending the 3rd overall pick of the 2005 draft on a guy who looks like a drunken, cross-eyed juggler of flaming grenades. Well done sir.

Screw you and that Art Shell-like waste of a coach who still stands in one spot on the field and looks as confused as if he were holding a Chinese menu upside down and trying to order veal scallopini while his team can't tackle, can't play and can't find the energy to turn in an honest day's work.

Screw you and your use of Ohio State highlights on the scoreboard in an attempt to generate something positive in that half-empty stadium where your team plies its trade. How about creating something exciting with your own team? ‘Hang on Sloopy' as the only weekly highlight is getting real old.

Screw you and your draft record. It's quickly approaching pathetic. And by virtue of those failed drafts you're forced to overspend on free agents instead of relying upon cheaper home grown talent. Not only do you have to overpay in terms of dollars and years for these guys like Don't Play Stallworth but then you want them to play Secret Squirrel with you when your medical staff or facilities cripple or nearly kill them. By the way, when can we expect Joe Jurevicius back again?  A week after never, right?

#@$% you and your belief that you're smarter than anyone else. You can try and keep the lemmings and the morons amused and involved with your game day package of music and highlights while your team implodes on the field but there are many of us who are not that stupid. Your win over Buffalo may have distracted your desired demographic of dim-witted drunks and idiots who are mesmerized by crap wrapped in a shiny package but you're not fooling the rest of us.

You're the HMFIC around Berea. You're never slow to point that out until the Anderson hits the fan but you own the product we see on the field every week.

Perhaps it'd best if you put down the e-machine and stopped returning e-mails and instead took a look around and took stock in what this team has become.

You and your club are a national joke. That's the ^%$*ing truth.

On a Brighter Note

There's one team playing hard and playing well in Cleveland right now and it's the Cavaliers. The Cavs sandwiched a loss to the Pistons between wins against New Jersey and Atlanta this past week and ran their Central Division-leading record to 10-3 in the process. The loss to Detroit came against a pretty good ball club on a night after the Cavs had traveled to New Jersey for a win so I'm not going to get on the wine and gold for that.

The Cavs have really amped it up on both ends of the court and have a good thing going right now despite the fact that one of their starters hasn't been on the floor long enough to get completely acclimated to his new environment. Mo Williams has still looked good and still been a difference maker while learning the strengths and tendencies of his new mates. The penetration element he brings to the offense is stunning and effective.

The Knicks are up next in New York, Oklahoma is on deck at ‘The Q' and Golden State is in the hole for a Saturday home game later in the week.
