UFC 139 Preview

Tonight in San Jose, California, the Ultimate Fighting Championship has a great card in store for fight fans. UFC 139 is loaded with legends of mixed martial arts, former champions, and possibly future title holders. While the fight card has no title fights, there is a handful of guys right on the cusp of a title shot if all goes well for them this evening.

The 4th of July fireworks display came early for mixed martial arts fans everywhere. UFC 132 went down last night and lived up to the hype. Going into the evening, I expected this card to be one of the best in 2011 and as of now, that looks spot on.

It’s not very often that the main event title fight earns the “Fight of the Night” honors, but that’s exactly what happened in the Dominick Cruz Urijah Faber matchup.

Happy 4th of July everyone. When you think of Independence Day for this great country we live in, you automatically think of fireworks. In Las Vegas, Nevada tonight, those explosions are going to be a little early. The Ultimate Fighting Championship has an extravaganza in store for mixed martial arts fans everywhere. UFC 132 goes down tonight and just might be the best card of 2011.

The main event is for the 135 pound bantamweight title and it’s between two guys who just don’t like each other. Champion Dominick Cruz puts his belt on the line against fan favorite Urijah Faber. These guys have fought before, four years ago, and then it was for Faber’s 145 pound title. A lot has changed since then.

The bad taste from UFC 130 a few weeks back is still in my mouth. That event had fights that should have made for a great card but turned into a total letdown. Tonight ,UFC 131 takes place and could erase the bad memories from two short weeks ago.

Injuries have plagued the sport of mixed martial arts a lot more than normal recently and UFC 131 is no different. Brock Lesnar and Junior Dos Santos were supposed to fight in the main event after they were both coaches on The Ultimate Fighter reality show. Lesnar is now out and Shane Carwin step in for him to try to stop the freight train that is Junior Dos Santos.

UFC 130 went down last night in Las Vegas and it left a pretty bad taste in my mouth. The card was supposed to have a lightweight title fight but that was scrapped because both Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard were injured. The main event and co-main event were crap last night in my opinion.

Let’s start with the co-main event. Frank Mir versus Roy “Big Country” Nelson. Roy Nelson is a fat slob that should be embarrassed.
