Scott SwerbinskyIt's the end of the year and a slow time in boxing. 2009 looks to be a great year for the "Sweet Science" and 2008 was a very entertaining one that had many upsets. The heavyweight division is still a mess but a few fighters stepped up to challenges which makes fight fans happy. At the end of each year, my cousin Scott puts together his top ten pound for pound rankings. And this year, has two guys at the top that may surprise some fight fans.

Scott SwerbinskyLast night in Las Vegas, we saw just what many boxing observers thought we would see. A one sided fight between Oscar De La Hoya and Manny Pacquiao. However, the champion getting his hand raised at the end was the guy everyone picked to lose, as Pac Man dominated The Golden Boy for all seven rounds, pummeling him into submission and likely retirement. Scott SwerbinskyOne of the most anticipated fights in UFC history takes place tonight in Las Vegas. The MGM Grand is where the action will take place and it's going to be huge, as in the largest man to step into the octagon and probably the biggest name in the mixed martial arts world. Randy "The Natural" Couture vs. Brock Lesnar. The fight will be for the UFC heavyweight title and is the first bout in what is a three fight tournament to become the undisputed champ of the division. Last night in Las Vegas, a new champion in the heavyweight division was crowned, as Lesnar dominated UFC legend Randy Couture by pounding him into submission with a violent flurry of crushing blows to Couture's head after taking him to the ground.
