Scott SwerbinskyGray "The Bully" Maynard is one of the rising stars in the UFC lightweight division, and is a guy with local ties, earning All-State and All-American honors as a wrestler for St. Ed's in the late nineties before going on to star at Michigan State.  He's got a big beef coming up on UFC Fight Night this Wednesday, and was nice enough to set aside some time to talk to our Scott Swerbinsky before the event.

Scott SwerbinskyUFC Rapid Fire took place in England yesterday and lived up to its name.  And just as my cuz predicted in his preview yesterday, there were a slew of quick and violent knockouts in the UFC's latest pay-per-view event.  The main event featured BJ "The Prodigy" Penn fighting Joe "Daddy" Stephenson for the vacated lightweight title, and as many suspected, BJ dominated.  Scott recaps the entire event for us today.

Scott SwerbinskyUFC 80 comes to us live on pay per view from England at 3 PM Eastern time today, and my cousin Scott says we can expect the knockouts to start at about 3:05. Top to bottom it's a decent card, but one that has a few potential mismatches and highlight reel possibilities. Scott SwerbinskyHe's been covering boxing and the UFC since we started this website, and today, Scott Swerbinsky gives us his annual year end top pound for pound fighters in boxing.  Floyd Mayweather clearly checks in at #1, but who came in #2 on Spoon's list?  And where does Kelly Pavlik rank?  This was a great year for boxing, and there are a slew of great fights already set for early 2008.  Happy New Year everyone!

Scott SwerbinskyIt was the years final UFC pay per view card, featuring a great pair of co-main event fights.  Chuck Liddell returned to his winning ways with a unanimous decision win over Wanderlei Silva.  And we may have seen the last fight of UFC legend Matt Hughes, who was thoroughly dominated by the guy our fight doctor calls "the future of the UFC", Georges St. Pierre.  Spoon recaps all of last nights action.
