2013 10 browns lose chiefsThe Cleveland Browns lost to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday by the score of 23-17.

It was the Browns third consecutive defeat, dropping them to 3-5 as the 2013 NFL season hits the halfway mark. Meanwhile, the Chiefs remained the league’s lone unbeaten team as they climbed to 8-0.

More importantly, it was the sixth time this season that the Browns scored 20 points or less on offense.

Apparently the Jason Campbell-led offensive revolution will have to wait at least one more week before it commences.

2013 10 browns chiefs previewThe Cleveland Browns are back on the road again this Sunday, taking on the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs.

The Browns have decided to end the Brandon Weeden experiment at quarterback (at least for the time being) and have turned to journey man Jason Campbell to run the offense.

BoredJasonCampbellThe long awaited benching of Brandon Eugene Weeden (I don't know if that's his real middle name, it just sounds right) has provided a modicum of relief for the weary eyes of Browns fans everywhere.

Unfortunately, the alternative is Jason Campbell.

Yes, I am highly aware that there have been times in the past where Mr. Campbell looked like a competent QB, most recently in Oakland.  However, the games I watched him play for Chicago last year were, um, uninspiring, and that was a far better overall team than the one he is about to join in battle in beautiful Kansas City.

Listen, I'm not a believer in the Tribal Leaders as a legit Super Bowl contender despite their 7-0 record.  Their wins have not been impressive, Alex Smith is Alex Smith, and I think they are destined for a nice 11-5 record, a Wild Card appearance, and a quick and quiet exit from the playoffs.

2013 10 browns not winTaking a look at the Cleveland Browns 3-4 record today we realized that, as bad as things are right now, it is very likely that they are going to get a lot worse before we reach the end of the season.

Worse, as in, is there a game left on the schedule that the Browns can actually win?

Worse, as in, it’s not even Halloween yet and the season, like so many before it, already feels like it is over.

Worse, as in, the Browns may have already won too many games this season to have a realistic chance at improving the most important position on the team in next spring’s NFL Draft.

Looking at the upcoming schedule it is hard to see the Browns having a realistic chance at a win until the month of December.

BarINT. BAR - NIGHT

Trevor and Sheila sit on stools at a bar, watching the MNF game between the Colts and the Broncos on the big screen in front of them.  The game goes to commercial, and Sheila drains what’s left of her beer while Trevor watches TV and shakes his head irritably.

Trevor:  That’s just terrible.

Sheila:  What?
