So it’s time for a break from movie reviews and take a look ahead for what’s new to the theaters, rather than continually looking forward to Sunday’s Oscar presentation. And since we are now into March, we have a HUGE movie coming out today.
Tim Burton and Johnny Depp are teaming up for the 1,225th time in “Alice in Wonderland”, a film that will finally put an end to the dominance of “Avatar” at the box office. Also out this week is “Brooklyn’s Finest”, another corrupt cop film from the director of “Training Day”.
For DVDs, we have two Oscar nominated films coming out, “Up in the Air” and “Precious”, as well as the comedy “Old Dogs”, the animated “Planet 51”, Roger Moore’s latest controversial documentary “Capitalism: A Love Story”, and the action drama/cult sequel “Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day”.
In the latest news, we have stories about an HBO series coming to the big screen (and no, it’s not “The Sopranos”), tales of not one, but TWO movies coming out titled “Excalibur”, a Marco Polo fantasy, word on the next Wolverine movie, and news of the upcoming fifth season of Dexter.

We continue our run-up to Oscar week by looking back at "Up in the Air". This film was the early favorite of critics as the Best Picture of the year, but has seemingly ran out of steam against the much talked about David vs Goliath battle between "Avatar" and "The Hurt Locker". Which is a shame, as I still personally feel that this is the best movie of the year. George Clooney is also deserving of Best Actor award that he'll probably lose to Jeff Bridges, and Vera Farminga and Anna Kendrick will split their votes for Best Supporting Actress, allowing Moniqu'e to easily win the award.
