The Ultimate Fighting Championship made a very successful debut in Australia, hosting its first ever event in front of 16,000 plus fans. All of the fans there got to see a great night of action highlighted by  a few surprises.

The main event was another showcase of future heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez. He destroyed yet another opponent, this time it was mixed martial arts legend Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira. I am one of the few people that think Noguiera has seen his better days and doesn't have that much left in the old gas tank.

Velasquez used a much improved standup game to finish the fight early. He landed a few perfect shots that ended the evening of fights just two minutes into the opening round. Nogueira never had a chance and he was the one that looked outclassed. Look for Cain to be fighting for the title in either his next fight or two fights down the road.

A few weeks have passed and I still have the bad taste of UFC 109 in my mouth.  That should all go away as UFC 110 takes place in Sydney, Australia in what has the makings of a very exciting night of mixed martial arts action.

There are a handful of fighters on this card that have a lot of questions surrounding them and that will typically lead to crowd pleasing and action packed fights. Let's take a look at some of the highlighted fights:

Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira vs. Cain Velasquez

The winner of this heavyweight fight will be right in line for a title shot in the next few months. Nogueira is the old legend that many people are writing off and think he has seen his better days. Velasquez is the new hungry lion that looks to be nearly unstoppable.

In my opinion, Cain Velasquez has the makings of a long time title holder. He gets better every time we see him in the cage and comes from a great wrestling background. If his standup gets better, watch out heavyweights.

Nogueira has been in with just about everyone and has looked good recently but not great as we were used to seeing him a few years back. There are a lot of miles on his body and I'm not too sure he can deal with the young up and coming sensation that is Cain Velasquez.

UFC 109 took place in Las Vegas last night and this is the first time in a long time that I was let down in a UFC event. In what had the making of a very solid night of fights, I walked away disappointed.

Maybe it has something to do with two of my favorite fighters losing. But in all honesty, some of the fights were just flat out boring and uneventful. Add in the fact that the announce team of Joe Rogan and Mike Goldberg get too damn excited talking about Randy Couture and it all added up to a bad night for the UFC.

"The Natural" Randy Couture pretty much ended the career of Mark Coleman last night with a dominating submission victory. At age 46, what Randy is doing is pretty impressive but Coleman has close to nothing left and it pains me to say that. Couture is a legend in the sport, don't get me wrong, but if he were to step in with any top contenders he would get hurt and lose convincingly in my opinion.

UFC 108 will probably always been known for the card that should have been. There was a ton of talent that was supposed to be on the card. Illness and injuries forced a lot of fighters to pull out of this event. A lot of outside observers were bad mouthing this fight card. Those nobodies forgot to tell all the guys that remained because they put on a great night of fights. The main event between light heavyweight contenders Rashad Evans and Thiago Silva put the finishing touches on an already exciting night of back and forth fights.
