Scott SwerbinskyTwo of boxing biggest and brightest stars were in action last night and returned to their winning ways in dominating fashion. Youngstown's Kelly Pavlik put on a show for his hometown fans while regaining his middleweight titles. Marcio Antonio Rubio didn't stand a chance last night against Pavlik and over 7,000 of his closest friends. And Miguel Cotto dominated Michael Jennings at Madison Square Garden. My cousin Scott was ringside in Youngstown last night with media credentials and talks about the experience.

Scott SwerbinskyYoungstown's own Kelly Pavlik was thought to be the next big thing in the world of boxing, and he still very well could be. Kelly was knocking people out and grabbing national attention with his powerful right and left hands. He was beating people that he wasn't supposed to beat., and doing it in impressive fashion. The record of "The Ghost" was a perfect 34-0 with 30 of those wins by knockout. Enter Bernard Hopkins on October 18th of 2008. In the main event, Georges St. Pierre showed us once again that he is the best fighter in the world today, and it isn't even close ... dominating B.J. Penn en route to a stoppage after the 4th round. My cuz recaps the entire card for us.

Scott SwerbinskyThere have been many fighters that have stated that it is much harder to defend their titles once they reach the top of the mountain. It is something that separates the very good from the greats and it is an axiom that transcends across all sports. Last night in Los Angeles we saw another fighter that seemed to happy with just being called "the man." Antonio Margarito for years was calling himself the most ducked fighter in the boxing world. Last year, with a dominating performance over then undefeated Miguel Cotto, he reached the elite level. Last night, he was dominated by 4-1 underdog Shane Mosley in a loss that left his supporters speechless.
